E3 2012 is starting to get crowded. With the expected announcement of launch date and pricing for the Wii U, Sony and Microsoft refuse to be left behind as they plan to announce their next console iterations.
The news comes from third-party publishing sources reporting to MCV, claiming that both companies are preparing to give the long-awaited reveals of their next systems in June.
Rumors have been circulating for some time about the various gestations from Microsoft’s camp but this is among the first inklings of Sony’s plans to unveil its next home console. Sony is making it apparent that it does not want a repeat of the PlayStation 3’s launch, where the company gave the Xbox 360 and its developers a one-year cushion to gain support.
While specifics are not expected surrounding pricing and launch, Microsoft and Sony are poised to steal some of Nintendo’s thunder at what is turning into the biggest E3 in the event’s history.

There are a few things that need to be updated on the Xbox but I’m just not sure it’s time for new systems just yet.
I agree that this console cycle can last longer. I feel like there is still plenty of potential in these machines that has yet to be fully tapped.
