Major Nelson on his blog covering all things Xbox LIVE, released the top games of 2010. The lists are full of a lot of obvious success stories, but there are a few surprises in them as well.
These lists are based on the popularity of the games within the first seven days of release.
The top five Xbox LIVE titles of 2010 were as follows:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops
2. Halo: Reach
3. Red Dead Redemption
4. Fable III
5. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Some of the surprises that made the top 20 were Kinect Adventures, Aliens vs. Predator and Mafia II.
Here are the top five Arcade Titles of 2010:
1. Dead Rising 2: Case Zero
2. LIMBO
3. Perfect Dark
4. Toy Soldiers
5. Monday Night Combat
Other games in the top 20 included X-Men Arcade, Super Meat Boy and World of Keflings.
Major Nelson also released the list of top 20 Indie Games. Here are the top six, because it would have been a shame to leave number six off of the list:
1. Baby Maker Extreme
2. Avatar Showdown
3. Avatar Paintball
4. Avatar Ninja!
5. Avatar Racedrome
6. Try not to fart
Other games included on the Indie list were Yet Another Zombie Defense, Zombie Estate and two other games with the word Avatar in the title.
