Capcom may bring back Onimusha

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono said he wants to bring back Capcom’s samurai slice-and-dice action series, Onimusha.

The last game of the series was released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 back in 2006, which means a reboot would involve some serious updates to compete with the current games on the market.

First on the list would be the single-player campaign. Ono said the game would "implement some sort of multiplayer" by expanding on Capcom’s community involvement.

While none of his ideas are concrete, Ono said he plans on working on the project until everything "comes to fruition." He then plans on talking it over with Capcom to get the ball really rolling.

Ono didn’t say if the reboot would remain exclusive to Sony.

"The time feels right to me," he said. "It feels like it’s the time to resurrect that series."

For those of you who don’t remember or maybe never heard of Onimusha, check out a trailer for the series’ third installment circa E3 ’94, guest-starring Jean "The Professional" Reno.
