"A city soaked in alcohol, jazz, and corruption." This just about sums up Rockstar and Team Bondi’s latest trailer for the upcoming open-world crime thriller L. A. Noire.
The video is called "Orientation" and is the first in what will be a series of gameplay videos revealing further details on Cole Phelp’s cases and the world that surrounds them. Not surprisingly, most of the mechanics seem to mimic that of GTA IV, whether in shooting, driving, or hoofing it.
The unique quality to this game appears to lie in its "critical thinking" detective system, which will force players to not only find clues but piece them together using little more than a few hints and their noggins. Other varieties of police work will make their way into the game as well, like interrogation, tailing a suspect, questioning witnesses, and, of course, some good ol’ fashioned shoot-outs.
Check out the trailer for more, and look forward to the release of L. A. Noire on May 17 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
