In a recent press release, Epic representatives have confirmed that Gears of War 3‘s multiplayer beta will begin its newest phase, "Never Fight Alone" later this month.
In preparation, as of today all current participants in the game’s beta will receive a "buddy token" allowing them to invite one friend to join them from May 8.
The tokens will be distributed via email and if the sign-up figures for the initial stage of the beta are anything to go by, they could quickly become the equivalent of Willy Wonka’s fabled golden ticket.
The token will grant players both new and old a full week to enjoy the latest multiplayer modes, including Team Deathmatch, Capture the Leader and King of Hill.
Additionally, players will be granted the opportunity to unlock exclusive content including medals, weapon skins and character variants — all of which will be carried over to the full game upon purchase.
Launching September 20, Gears of War 3 is already available for pre-order in three editions — Standard ($59.99/£49.99), Limited ($79.99/£59.99) and Epic ($149.99/£99.99).
