Ubisoft Gains Turtle Power

The amphibious cartoon heroes, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, are coming back to the big and small screens. Konami has held the rights to the little green ninjas since the early 80™s. Now publisher Ubisoft, who has came out with the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia series, will get the chance at making a new video game that will be based on the upcoming feature film. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be entirely computer generated, via Hong Kong’s Imagi Animation Studios. They are also the studio behind the upcoming Highlander movie: Zentrix. When the flim is complete, it will be given to Warner Bros. for distribution in the United States and to the Weinstein Company for international release. The movie will be directed by Kevin Munroe. He has worked on Midway™s Freaky Flyers game for the various consoles and has done previous director duties on a short films for the ABC Family television network. Even though the movie will be rated PG, the filmmakers want to get the dark, gritty tone of the comic book, and 80™s teenage heartthrob Corey Feldman may be playing the role of Donatello. The film is scheduled to be released in Spring of 2007.
