Day of Defeat: Source Free this Weekend

Anybody who has played a Valve game via Steam in the past two days (I,d ballpark that at about 35% of GN staff) should have noticed Valve,s ad promoting a free weekend of Day of Defeat: Source. A press release from Valve said the following: “This weekend Valve is inviting everyone to try Day of Defeat: Source for free via Steam. Visit Steampowered.com to pre-load the game and be set to play at 12:00 pm PST on Friday, when the Free Weekend begins. Join the ranks as Axis or Allied troops located in Western Europe during the height of the war in 1944.” Obviously, this bold move by Valve is an attempt to get as many gamers as possible to test drive Day of Defeat: Source, in the hopes that many will shell out the $19.95 for the full version of the game.
