The Nintendo DS: the game machine of choice for children and the childlike. The DS: a handheld game console which sports great family games such as Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, and Mario 64. The DS: home of a new RESIDENT EVIL game. WHAT?! That,s right. Capcom, the producers of the horror-action-puzzle game franchise, Resident Evil, has announced its latest title for the DS, “Resident Evil: Deadly Silence.” We can hear Yoshi and Mario crying for their mommies already. The new DS title will receive an ESRB rating of “M” for mature (what is the world coming to?). The game offers the signature horrors of the RE series and will have an impressive arsenal of weapons gamers can use to blow the living daylights out of the undead. A selection of pistols, shotguns and bazookas will help the gamer survive through the halls of a mansion filled with zombies (the flesh eating kind), huge spiders, creatures, and your run of the mill mutant dogs. This new version of the game will depart from the intense puzzle aspect of the series and will instead focus on action. The dual screens of the DS allow gamers to hack and slash with the lower touch screen as well as displaying detailed menu information. The onboard microphone will be utilized in gameplay to solve problems or in giving CPR to fallen comrades (by blowing into the mic). The game has wireless multiplayer modes to gang up on the monsters or against each other. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is available now and has a MSRP of $39.99.
