In the back of the mind of most Lord of the Rings gamers lies this small voice that says, Gosh, it sure would be nice if the LotR series could be a MMO game. Hopefully, you don™t hear too many voices inside your head, but for the voice wishing for a Lord of the Rings online game, there is some great news. Turbine Inc. and Midway Games have partnered together to make the world™s first MMO game based upon J.R.R. Tolkien™s LotR books. Jeffrey Anderson, CEO of Turbine said, Midway™s extensive North American distribution capabilities should ensure a strong and broad based retail presence for The Lord of the Rings Online. Steve Allison, who is the chief marketing officer at Midway remarked, The Lord of the Rings series is the foundation for so much of today™s fantasy entertainment, and we expect Turbine™s MMO to be a faithful, thrilling recreation of Tolkien™s world. We are very pleased to be working with Turbine and look forward to leveraging our expertise to bring The Lord of the Rings Online to the vast legions of Tolkien fans. The title for the new game is The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. The new MMO will incorporate all the elements of Tolkien™s universe, and will recreate the environment and atmosphere of Middle Earth, as gamers explore the expansive locations and realms of the LotR story. Gamers will have the opportunity to join Tolkien characters in solo quests or take the option of entering into fellowships with other gamers. Perhaps the game developer™s own words describe the storyline of this new game best, In a time of war, an ancient evil stirs, heroes will rise to protect all the free peoples of Middle-Earth
