God of War 2 Rumors Untrue or Not?

There was some excitement in the air recently as reports and rumors were broadcast about Sony’s intention on releasing the sequel to their monster hit God of War for the PS2. Websites were repeating this story across the internet as gamers were enthralled at the prospects of entering the mythological world of Kratos once more. But the reported news leak, supposedly taken from documents obtained via Sony’s own marketing department, and posted by a European game website, were immediately taken down after Sony threatened legal action against the site. Apparently, the information was either very sensitive in nature and was not yet meant for public distribution, or the information was incorrect. Regardless, the website in question later replaced the news story by saying, “The information that previously appeared here has been removed under the threat of legal action from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.” The retracted story indicated that God of War 2, would be ready for launch sometime in February of 2006. As far as the actual date of the release of GoW2, if the second game in the series exists at all, Sony indicated that information about the progress of the supposed title would be made available if and when the game is ready for release. If the demand for retraction of the original appearance of the story is any indication of whether there is a God of War 2 title on the books, we’d like to make an educated guess that there probably is a GoW2 somewhere lurking behind the walls of Sony.
