Ubisoft: Free Subscriptions for Shadowbane

If you are someone who has wanted to experience or try out the world of MMO games, but was hesitant due to the monthly subscription rates and fees, there is a way to do this without spending one thin dime. Ubisoft has announced that it will make its MMORPG, Shadowbane, free of charge to play. No subscription rates. No fees. No hidden charges. No kidding. The previous subscription rate for the game was $12.99 per month. Last year, Sony Online Entertainment was experimenting with this concept by planning to make certain online games free of subscription rates. The revenue was to be generated by selling bonus features and items to the gamer. Anyone could play for free, but those who wanted an enhanced experience could do so by buying things from the online store. No official word has come from Ubisoft as to how long this free status will last.
