Capcom announced today that the multiplayer demo for their hotly anticipated Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will hit Xbox Live on November 23. The demo is part of a major media push for the Lost Planet game, which made a strong showing at E3 but has recently been overshadowed by higher-profile releases like Gears of War, the PlayStation 3, and Nintendo’s Wii.
The free download (which, if you’re not the calendar-reading type, hits XBL on Thanksgiving Day) features a single map, Pirate Fortress, capable of 16-player combat. The modes available include solo and team deathmatch modes (“Elimination” and “Team Elimination”), capture the flag mode (“Post Grab”), and “Fugitive” mode. According to Capcom, gamers will be able to get their frag on with multiple weapons and “unique robotic assault vehicles called ‘Vital Suits.""
Capcom is pushing November 24 as “White Friday,” the day retailers will launch an early preorder program that will reward those able to reserve Lost Planet early with a special version of the demo. Gamers who preorder either version of the game-it’s being offered in Collector’s Edition format-will receive a card from participation retailers printed with a unique code allowing them to download the bonus demo. The special demo will include a second map, “Dilapidation.” This is the first time any studio has offered bonus demo content through XBL in such a way.
