Virtua Fighter 5 has seen its fair share of revamps on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The definitive version will be making its way to the PlayStation Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace next summer.
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown will feature new modes, arenas, customizable character items, and two new characters. The two new characters include Virtua Fighter 3 sumo wrestler Taka-Arashi and newcomer to the franchise Jean Kujo.
This new iteration on Virtual Fighter 5 is described as an update to the fighting game but will release as a standalone version. It will feature online multiplayer for both consoles and Sega promises "little to no latency" with leaderboards to keep track of players’ rankings.
Alongside the improved multiplayer, Sega is introducing a new single-player mode where players will take on "an army of opponents".
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is set for a Summer 2012 release on the PlayStation Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
