During their annual Gamer’s Day, Sony Computer Entertainment American made announcements regarding some new PS3 games plus more details about the long-waited PSP Store.
Sony confirmed that the upcoming multiplayer-only PS3 action game, Warhawk, will be released simultaneously at retail locations and the Playstation Store. The game is expected for release this fall but a public beta will be available on May 24. On that date, players can register at the official site to hopefully get a spot.
Next up, Sony revealed SOCOM Confrontation, a multiplayer-only game that’ll only be sold through the Playstation Store. The series will make its debut on the PS3. Slant Six Studios is developing this game alongside its sister PSP title, SOCOM Tactical Strike.
Confrontation will allow up to 32 players and will be supported by regularly released online content packs–new themes, modes, equipment and option. SOCOM Confrontation is set for release this fall.
Jack Tretton, President of SCEA, said a few words about the PSP Store. "I think the advent of a long awaited and quite frankly long overdue ability to deliver a downloadable service for the PSP will help us out a great deal. Hopefully we’ll have it out there by the fall."
