Wii slipping but 360 and PS3 rising in online sales

amazonFor the past week, the Wii has been slipping in sales at Amazon’s Games sales division. While it maintained the #1 spot last week, this week it slipped to #6. Its rivals, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, on the other hand, have been increasing sales and maintained their positions in the top 20 — rank 16 and rank 19 respectively.

So what could be the cause for the Wii slipping from #1 to #6 postition? One could point to the rampant stock deficiency that’s been affecting many places around the U.S. Eager consumers who couldn’t find the Wii in stores planned to shop online but found that online retailers were affected by the shortages too.

wiidownNintendo better vamp up production soon, especially since they’re planning to sell 35 million Wii consoles in the U.S. by 2012…that is, if people are still interested by then.

Despite the PS3 maintaining its sales figures over the Wii, PS3 game sales are still low — in fact it didn’t even break into the top 50 sales rankings. In spite of the poor showing, sellers are still trying to get rid of PS3’s on eBay for some fast cash.

All we can say is, "good luck, pal."

dollarsignsAs for the Xbox 360, the premium console sales are still pretty high but the Elite package plummeted to rank 228 this week, with last week peaking at #3. What could be the blame for the downfall?

Even though the Elite version includes a bunch of new things, including a 120 GB hard drive, HDMI cable and a black finish, it looks like gamers haven’t decided it’s worth it to spend $479.99 on it.

Sony, are you listening?
