This past week has been a slow one for new game announcements but there is still some notable news about upcoming titles.
A few folks from Human Head Studios split to form their own company and are working on their debut title–a fantasy-themed board game.
I’m sure that these types of games can easily cater to the casual community and perfect for the various consoles’ downloading services, so good luck to them. In other new game releases for this past week:
Akella and Primal Software announced 2025: Battle for Fatherland this past week. The game will be a third-person action game involving mechs and will take place far in the future where the world is under siege by an imposing enemy.
You’ll play a soldier in the Peacemaking Forces (what a great way to make peace by piloting a large mech that shoots things!). The game will feature the Heavy Duty engine and will contain over 20 missions. There’s no release date as of writing.
Big Rooster announced their debut game this past week — Talisman, the fantasy-themed board game will allow for four players and will be released for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC this coming winter.
Big Rooster also hired another developer to port the game to the Nintendo Wii and DS. There’s no other word about what the game details are. Big Rooster was formed this past week from a few folks from Prey-developer Human Head Studios.
WorldShift is Black Sea Studios next project The game will be a cyber-fantasy RTS game set in the dark and gritty future. The game will feature "thousands of items and powerful relics to collect — the best cooperative, player-vs-environment gameplay ever made in RTS game" and three playable races. There’s currently no word on a publisher or a release date, so sit tight.
