In one of those news stories that makes you go, "Are you joking?" after you read it, we have one that will definitely have you scratching your head in disbelief.
In Hialeah, Florida, two men decided that they would rob a house they thought was unoccupied. Mistake number one. It wasn’t. When they broke in, they ran into Damian Fernandez – a brown belt in karate. Mistake number two. Damian just so happened to have a samurai sword in his possession. Really big mistake number three (for the burglars). They broke into the house to steal a PS3. Unbelievable mistake number four. (These guys wanted to steal a PS3?)
As one of the burglars entered the bedroom where the valued PS3 was, Damian recalled, "I saw him take off running back, I jumped off my (bunk) bed and I grabbed my sword … and I just waited for him." Damian then proceeded to show off his French fry cutting skills upon the chest of the criminal.
What did the thief think about that? Damian said, "He freaked out." Indeed.
When the police arrived, they found one of the would-be PS3 burglars hiding in the bushes. The other one got away.
Strangely enough, the thief was released the next day on bail. He is appointed to show up two weeks later on three felony charges.
Now, if he had stolen a Wii or a Xbox 360, they would have locked him up and thrown away the key…
