Telltale secures $6 mil funding. New Sam & Max planned

sammaxIn a press release Telltale Games announced they’ve secured $6 million in funding from two investment companies and are currently going on a little spending spree. In short, the $6 million will go towards expanding the company, new game projects and multi-platform development.

Telltale’s web designer, Jake Rodkin, mentioned that Telltale is currently planning "the next Sam & Max project" and the fourth game in their CSI series with Ubisoft. In addition, Telltale will be going multi-platform as they’ve hired some programmers to port their engine to the Xbox 360 and Wii.

Back in September, Telltale’s Marketing Coordinator, Emily Morganti, made a blog post asking if the community would be interested to see Sam & Max make the jump to the Wii. With the new staff helping out with multi-platform development, I’d definitely wager that the duo will appear on the Wii.

Dan Connors, CEO and co-founder of Telltale Games said, "Digital distribution is changing entertainment and Telltale is helping define the new landscape. This funding will allow us to stay on the cutting edge of innovation by building out our team and our tools and by taking on new licenses for the episodic treatment."

Considering the success Sam & Max: Season 1 has made for Telltale Games, this investment sounds like a grand idea. In the meantime, I highly suggest checking out Season 1, it’s a great adventure series.

The retail edition of Season 1 will make its way to stores in August, courtesy of The Adventure Company and JoWooD. Also throughout the summer, Telltale will be releasing weekly segments that’ll chronicle the development of Season 1. Check that out here.
