With the life of Manhunt 2 virtually hanging in the balance, Sony and Nintendo have stated that if any of the versions for the PlayStation or Wii is given a rating of "AO" for adults only by the ESRB, they will immediately reject the games for approval for their respective machines.
At the moment, there is pressure coming from children’s activist groups to have the ESRB rate the Wii edition of the game as AO. Their rationale for the adults only rating has to do with the physical actions, during game play, of actually hacking and slashing victims to death.
The Center for Commercial-free Childhood stated, "On Wii, players will not merely punch buttons or wield a joy stick, but will actually act out this violence…"
The question must be asked, "Didn’t Rockstar already know that Nintendo and Sony had guidelines that state they will not publish any AO rated games?"
Somebody messed up big-time at Rockstar.
