Want to break into the gaming industry in the United States? Well, hopefully you can distinguish yourself from the other 39,700 folks who are developing or publishing games.
If not, you won’t be going anywhere fast.
The CMP Game Group’s Game Developer Research division held its first ever census and came up with the astoundinfg figure of how many people in the U.S are working on games.
Surprisingly, more than 46% are located in California with 11.63% in Washington and 7.37% in Texas.
Rounding out the top 7 states with more than 1,000 gaming employees are New York, Massachusetts, Illinois and Florida.
Note that game tools companies, game contracting/services companies, external PR, marketing, legal and other businesses were not counted in the Census.
