Somebody seems a little irritated with all the news about Sony losing exclusive titles faster than Paris Hilton can say, "Mom, it’s not fair!" Who is that someone? None other than Jack Tretton, the Prez of SCEA.
In an interview given to PSM magazine, Tretton locked, loaded and fired off some comments against an unnamed adversary, (Microsoft) and stated that Sony doesn’t grovel for exclusives, thank you very much.
He said, "We have a very different approach to exclusives than some of our competitors. We don’t buy exclusivity. We don’t fund development. We don’t, for lack of a better term, bribe somebody to only do a game on our platform. We earn it…"
Tretton let the cat out of the bag and mentioned who he was talking about. "Microsoft is too dependent on the third-party community, and Nintendo is too depended on first-party. We like to feel that we got a pretty good mix."
It should probably be pointed out that losing PS3 exclusives wasn’t really under Sony’s control – it was the publishers who dropped them and not the other way around.
