In the latest issue of the Japanese gaming publication, Famitsu, the producer of the fifth installment in the Resident Evil series, Jun Takeuchi, confirmed that the main character of the title is indeed series veteran, Chris Redfield. In addition to that, he briefly mentioned the gameplay alterations that will be implemented.
"What has happened to Chris during these 10 years? By showing his past, we can begin to unravel things that were not resolved in Resident Evil 4. In fact, Resident Evil 5 will retain most of its gameplay style [from Resident Evil 4] with some new features which I cannot talk about yet at this point," said Takeuchi.
Takeuchi also shared a few additional details in regards to how this game will differ from previous games in the series, particularly the enemies the former S.T.A.R.S member will be going up against.
"The enemies this time are not zombies nor are they Los Ganados [Ed- the looney villagers that players of RE4 are familiar pumping lead into on a frequent basis] either, but are quite smart, human-like creatures. One of the main themes in this game is that Chris is fighting for a cause that is not really clear. Is he fighting for good or evil?"
Hopefully, more will be revealed for this highly anticipated sequel in full length trailer hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace on the 26th of this month.
