Some kooky news for you — a 12-year-old boy from California ran away from home after his parents took away World of Warcraft. The boy, Damien Rollins, received the game for his birthday and reportedly, "got addicted to it" and "hasn’t stopped playing it since". According to his mother, "It got to the point at which he would play all day and throughout the night. More than 15 hours nonstop sometimes."
After the parents took away the game, Damien left his room one night and hid in his friends’ backyard. When the authorities got involved, Damien returned home. Upon his return, his mother said, "He’s learned his lesson. We’ll let him play the game occasionally, but not for hours and hours at a time."
So I guess all it took to get his game back was a couple of hours of hysteria and panic. I wish I could remove all my college work just by running away and have my professor exclaim, "Since you’re safe, I’ll cut you some slack."
