Bad news for all you Stranglehold fans/PC gamers. The system requirements have just been released via Midway’s official forums, and unless you’ve got some serious cash invested in your rig, you’d best start begging a friend to let you borrow his PS3/360.
The requirements as listed now can be seen in the full article.
- Windows XP SP2 / Vista (Games for Windows compliant)
- Dual Core Processor
- 2 Gigs of Ram
- Nvidia 7800 or high / ATI x1300 or higher
- Disk space: 15 gigs
Keep in mind, these are the MINIMUM requirements. This is not an id Software or Valve game that would send PC gamers sprinting to Newegg to upgrade their PC’s. This is from Midway, a company who generally designs games for the Average Joe.
Stranglehold itself is a very casual-gamer oriented action game, and I can’t imagine why on earth they would set the requirements so high and alienate so much of their potential audience.
Still, good news on the console side of things as the demo released today on Xbox Live. Now I can see for myself if John Woo’s American game is as bad as so many of his American movies. Seriously, has anyone seen Windtalkers?
*UPDATE* According to a source at Midway, these requirements posted by a Midway staff member on their official forums are not the final minimum requirements for the game, but the extremely higher ones used for non-optimized software. While I assume that staff member is being forced to sit in a corner wearing a hat, PC gamers can breathe a sigh of relief — for now. – Brendon
