Wedbush Morgan analyst and mordern-day Nostradamus wannabe Michael Pachter has made yet another prediction about the gaming industry. Two, actually. This time around, the seasoned supposer says that he sees some sort of significant slashing of Sony’s systems’ stickers sometime soon-ish.
He thinks that "a price cut for the PS2 is possible" prior to this holiday season, saying, "any hardware price reduction could serve as a catalyst for sales growth later in the year."
As for the Playstation 3, his prediction is that the price may be reduced next year, coinciding with the release of big titles such as Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4.
"We do expect Sony to be in a position to cut the price of the PS3 in early 2008."
Good news – or just hot air? Do you trust Pachter’s predictions?
Personally, I hope he’s right – for the sake of gamers’ wallets everywhere.
