Microsoft announced today that pre-orders for Halo 3 has exceeded over 1 million in North America. Retailers have just begun taking pre-orders for the three versions of Halo 3: Standard Edition, Limited Edition and the mega expensive but neat Legendary Edition — and already the number is through the roof.
Apparently the fans are so crazy over the Legendary Edition that retailers are expecting even that version will be sold out once Halo 3 launches on September 25th. Also retailers are noting that the game has accumulated the fastest number of pre-orders in video game history.
Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at GameStop Corp., said, "What we’ve experienced is nothing short of phenomenal. Halo 3 has eclipsed many previous records and will prove to be one of the must-have items of 2007."
