Be thankful StarCraft isn’t an event in the Championship Gaming Series, because it’s just been announced that Seoul will be the newest franchise city to join in the action.
"Creating a CGS team based in Seoul is critical to our success as a true worldwide gaming league," said CGS Commissioner Andy Reif. "It is widely known that Korea produces many of the best professional gamers in the world. With our partner, STAR, covering the action for fans across Asia, Seoul will have the opportunity to prove itself in head-to-head competition against top pro gaming professionals from Europe, the United States, Latin America, Australia, the Middle East, and elsewhere in Asia"
The members of the team (Yoon-Seo Park for FIFA 2007, Soo-Kyung Kang and Sung-Yoon Kang for PGR 3, Yong- Hyun Baik for DOA, Counter-Strike: Source squad eSTRO, and one female to be announced later) will earn a base salary of $30,000, and can earn upwards of $100,000 with bonuses and incentives for things such as "winning" and "not losing."
Team Seoul will compete at the CGS Asian Championship, and the four top teams will advance to the World Championship in Los Angeles.
