Sony has been focused on bolstering its security and privacy services ever since the PlayStation Network breach back in April. Now the company has made a big move by hiring Philip R. Reitinger, a former US Homeland Security official.
Reitinger will occupy the role of both Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer. According to the Sony news release, "he will oversee information security, privacy and internet safety across the company, coordinating closely with key headquarters groups and working in partnership with the information security community to bring the best ideas and approaches to Sony."
In addition to the US Department of Homeland Security, Reitinger has also worked for the US Department of Defense, the US Department of Justice, and Microsoft. With that kind of résumé, it seems like Reitinger will be an important addition to the Sony team.
