As if it isn’t enough that Halo 3 is an inescapable cultural staple, Microsoft has seen fit to release an all new system SKU with Mister Chief himself emblazoned (gigantically) on the box. As if there is a person on the planet who would consider buying an Xbox 360 that didn’t know it had Halo 3.
I have to say though, it is some snazzy box art. I mean, if you compare it to the positively ass ugly Halo 2 Xbox design it’s like a Rembrandt.
Add this to the obligatory Microsoft Mountain Dew team up that they have going, and it looks like the Halo 3 advertising campaign is heating up.
Don’t expect this to be the end though…oh no, it’s going to get worse. Microsoft has said several times that they are shooting for Spider-man numbers. I’m positive that they know that they are going to need a Spider-man ad budget to achieve that.
What I’m wondering, is when a videogame is going to become so popular and mainstream that we’ll see advertising making deals with a publisher to share the image/name just to have the image on their product.
Spider-man gets this kind of thing all the time. Cereal boxes, fruit snacks, and juice boxes are frequent stops for old web-head, but when will the Chief find that kind of exposure?
