Tribes: Ascend, the first entry in the franchise in seven years, is set to come out in Q1 of 2012. But gamers wanting to get their hands on the game a bit early will have an opportunity starting today.
Developer Hi-Rez Studios has revealed that the free-to-play shooter will begin a closed beta "within the next few weeks." Fans can head on over to the game’s official website now and apply for entry.
The closed beta will include four multiplayer maps, two game modes and three vehicles. Players will be able to choose from 12 different classes, and matches will feature up to 32 people.
Although the beta will be somewhat exclusive initially, Hi-Rez does plan to increase the number of participants throughout the year as the Q1 2012 release window nears closer.
