According to Variety, the upcoming Prince of Persia movie will be getting a new director. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer made an offer to Mike Newell to head the live-action film
Newell directed films such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Mona Lisa Smile, Pushing Tin, Donnie Brasco and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
The director met executives at the Disney studio to talk about the project and negotiations are expected to proceed shortly, Variety reported.
Jeffrey Nachmanoff and the video game’s creator Jordan Mechner wrote the film’s script. With the upcoming movie finally shaping out, along with some rumors of a Prince of Persia prequel trilogy, perhaps 2008/2009 may see a resurgence of the Prince.
