While Sony’s Playstation 3 may be the biggest force behind the blu-ray format, HD-DVD doesn’t really have that sort of backup. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 features an HD-DVD drive, but it is external, sold separately, and not crucial to system functionality…
…but at least it’s getting a price cut!
Following last month’s announcement that the U.S. HD-DVD add-on will be reduced from $199 to $179, Microsoft has now said that the European drive will be receiving similar treatment, dropping to 180 Euros, down from 200.
The announcement was made at the IFA consumer trade fair in Germany last Wednesday.
