Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360 ships with a controller that has more than a few tricks up its sleeve. Not only is it guitar-shaped (obviously), but it also works on Windows PCs, much like the wired Xbox 360 controller.
Configuring the controller in Windows reveals that the frets of the guitar are mapped to buttons 1-5, with back and start acting as buttons 7 and 8. The point of view hat is controlled by the D-pad and strummer, and the whammy bar and Star Power control the x- and y- rotation, respectively. This should open up a whole new realm of Guitar Hero clones on the PC, now that hardware is already in place.
PC game Frets on Fire is already fully compatible with the controller, after just a bit of tweaking.
