Some crazy and silly gaming-related news out from Australia; an Australian woman was arrested in the U.S. after attempting to meet an internet boyfriend she encountered through World of Warcraft.
When Tamara Broome flew from Australia to North Carolina to meet the boy, she met three detectives instead and was promptly arrested for "attempting to abduct a child".
Afterwards, detectives found the boy trying to board a plane to Australia. The relationship began a year ago after the two met in World of Warcraft. Apparently it was serious enough to warrant a planned marriage too. Ms. Broome is currently held on a $2.35 million bond and may face more than 2 years in jail if found guilty.
Yikes, talk about Internet shenanigans. Move over MySpace, World of Warcraft is the next harbor for Internet predators.
