At time of writing, thousands of gamers must be still waiting in line to pick up Halo 3 or are already hugging and drooling over the copy in their hands and/or 360. With huge smiles on their faces, Microsoft released some figures regarding the pre-order explosion for Halo 3.
Over 1.5 million pre-orders were made for Halo 3, which makes the game the fasting pre-selling game in history surpassing the previous record holder: Halo 2. In the U.S. alone, over 10,000 retailers have embraced a midnight sale of Halo 3, along with accompanying Xbox 360s and accessories.
In related news, industry analysts released some estimates regarding how many copies Halo 3 will sell on its first day. Goldman Sachs analysts Sarah Friar and Frederick Grieb are predicting the game will sell 4.2 million copies; that’s a beefy number. For the sake of comparison, Halo 2 sold 2.4 million copies on its first day.
